I also use vinegar as a fabric softener, but I get the Sarsons one in a glass bottle. My toothpaste is from Georganics and comes in a glass pot with metal lid. It's tastes a bit weird but I'm getting used to it.
I found some compostable sanitary towels in Tesco, bamboo, called TOTM and they're not too expensive.
It always makes me so made that organic fruit and veg always comes in plastic, I'm going to find my local Morrisons (I'm not sure where it is!) to see if they do plastic free organic.
A very interesting post. All we can do it continue to find alternatives where we can, and put pressure on the companies that use plastic.
xxHazelxJoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05438389465030714608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7203323287774911355.post-58798534739716940812018-06-01T21:19:21.985+01:002018-06-01T21:19:21.985+01:00It's hard isn't it? Deodorant is also quite easy to make yourself to reduce the plastic there.Busygreenmumhttp://www.allotmentrecipes.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7203323287774911355.post-44519058720096920582018-05-15T08:55:10.503+01:002018-05-15T08:55:10.503+01:00This is a really insightful blog post Susie and ve...This is a really insightful blog post Susie and very admirable of you to share it with us, it does put into perspective how much plastic we do use in our homes and daily life in general. I think i am on par with you at home with lots of things. We have started buying fruit and veg loose at the supermarket, we even ditched brown tomato sauce that comes in plastic bottles for a cheap supermarket brand that comes in glass - it actually tastes ok - i was worried about sugar content. Some things will be hard to replace though, but i guess small steps than none at all will make some change. PS We have done a lot of gardening the past few week and everything from the compost to the plant pots and labels are plastic. I did find some wooden coffee stirrers left over when I ran the veggie cafe so have been using them as labels..small steps.Shaheenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03602971207085826708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7203323287774911355.post-44173376811291175922018-05-04T10:10:55.863+01:002018-05-04T10:10:55.863+01:00I try my best, but it seems impossible doesn't...I try my best, but it seems impossible doesn't it ? we are swimming against the tide I'm afraid.
I make flatbreads like yours too, much healthier and cheaper !
Hope your ankle is healing.Kitty Greenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12844056332086042474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7203323287774911355.post-20439842885135901522018-05-01T20:44:46.423+01:002018-05-01T20:44:46.423+01:00It is so hard isn't it! It'a frustrating how difficult it is to buy plastic free.Louisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16043065727770116407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7203323287774911355.post-89028114945806803612018-04-29T15:03:41.061+01:002018-04-29T15:03:41.061+01:00We are really trying to reduce our plastic use but...We are really trying to reduce our plastic use but it is so difficult!

We don't have a market here so earlier this month I got the bus to the next town to use the greengrocer, very stressful! So we rely on the supermarket where there is so much packaging.

We have made a few changes already, and I'm going to try to make crisps later. Next weekend we're going to visit a shop where we can buy foods loose - not as fancy as the zero waste shops I see online, but I'll see what it has to offer. thrift deluxehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12267215022924475298noreply@blogger.com
