Library love.

This is what I've been reading lately,
Lovely library books - Love at first stitch - Tilly Walnes, Craft a Creative Business - Fiona Pullen, Malory Towers - Enid Blyton, Only Ever Yours - Louise O'Neill. #bookblogger #lovelibraries
Love at first stitch - Tilly Walnes
I want to try all the projects in this book, to work my way up to making dresses!  The dress patterns are lovely, and the instructions seem simple to follow too.  I can't wait to unpack my sewing machine and get started!

Craft a Creative Business - Fiona Pullen
I'm exploring all my options at the moment, as my job is only safe for the next year.  I don't have an idea for a crafty creative business, but this book gives loads of useful advice should inspiration strike!  It's divided into sections, like tax, legal advice and selling online, which all look really helpful.

Malory Towers - Enid Blyton
I never read Malory Towers as a child, but I read lots of other Enid Blyton books.  I'm really enjoying reading the whole series, they're quick to read, retro and full of adventures!

Only ever yours - Louise O'Neill
Only ever yours freaked me out a bit, set in a society where women are bred and trained to become companions or concubines to men.  It's a mix between The Handmaid's Tale and Mean Girls.  It's so dark but ends on an empowering, if depressing note.  I think, kind of!

Have you read any good library books lately?

  1. Only Ever Yours was so haunting - and you're right, it's an exact mix of Mean Girls and The Handmaid's Tale.

    1. Haunting is the right word! It's definitely the kind of book that sticks with you.

  2. Libraries are great places for finding new books aren't they? I am reading, a new to me author, Dorothy Whipple. I found the book on the library shelves and I can't put it down.

    1. Oooh I've not heard of Dorothy Whipple, I'll have to look her up :) I work in libraries so I generally find waaay too many new books, I currently have about 12 library books out at the moment for me and 5 for my nieces too!

  3. Ooo, Only Ever Yours sounds creepy and interesting, I'll have to keep an eye out to see if I see it anywhere.

I'm unsure whether I want to join my local library, I need to pop by and see how much choice they have in English books and I might get a card if they've got a few to read. I've only just started to get really back into reading, since about November last year, so now I'm always on the hunt for something new to read.

I'm currently reading The Night Circus on my kindle which I'm really enjoying and I'm slowly making my way through The Series Of Unfortunate Events, slowly but surely. I'm on the tenth book of the series and they are becoming a little repetitive and boring, but I'm determined to finish them. I thought I'd break up the reading with The Night Circus haha!

    1. I loved The Night Circus, and Series of Unfortunate Events too, although I agree they do get samey, you haven't got many to go till the final one! Only Ever Yours was creepy, good though, I'd recommend it!

Hope your library has lots of English books, I know my library has books in French, German, Italian, Polish and Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali and more, and we don't live in a big town, so I have hope that your library will have English books!

  4. I love Malory Towers! I still have my hardback copies from childhood. Oddly, when I worked in Waterstones briefly, I got chatting to a little girl about this series and she told me she'd read eight of the series and still had two to go (or something like that) and I was all confused until the other cashier said that someone added to the series recently! I was a bit outraged but kinda want to read the newer ones too...

    1. I should have added - I have six books so I'm assuming that's what they consisted of originally, but maybe you're reading the newer ones too...

    2. Yes, someone has written more Malory Towers books (Pamela Cox she's called), they're about Darrell's sister I think. I'm just reading the Enid ones, I'm not sure I want to read impostor Enid Blyton and there are plenty more Enid Blyton books I haven't read! I'm planning on moving onto the St Clare's series when I've finished Malory Towers!
