Christmas at home.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Well, it is at mine anyway!  I can never resist getting my Christmas decs out early so I can bask in the glow of fairy lights on dark December days.  We've gone for a different set up this year, with little trees instead of the big one, but our traditional Christmas tat is out too!  Here's a little peek,

Our new home, in progress tour. Upstairs.

We've had carpets fitted since I showed you the downstairs of our new house!  I'm sooo happy about that!

The main bedroom is at the back of the house and we've been living in the front bedroom while Joe decorated the back one.  We moved the bed over into the back bedroom when we had the carpets fitted, so we're in our real and proper room now!  The retro dressing table was a valentines present from Joe, but I'd actually never seen it as it's been in storage since he bought it!  It's beautiful.

The back bedroom is currently Joe's computer room (Fallout 4 has just come out, anyone else a Fallout-widow?) and clothes drying area, it'll be a spare room one day though!

The box room is very full of boxes at the moment!  I unpacked 3 today though!  Once it's cleared and decorated this little bedroom will become the Man Cave.

The landing is pretty much finished!  We bought the tall mid-century mirror from the charity shop at the same time as we bought the amazing retro cabinet.  The banister is doing double duty as a drying rack, I should probably put up a washing line in the garden!

I'm feeling much happier about our house than I was last time I showed it to you, hopefully it won't be too much longer until I can show you real finished rooms!

Our new home, in progress tour. Downstairs.

We've had our house since April, and been living here since June and doing lots of home renovations, so I thought it was about time I showed you some progress photos!

A lot of the big expensive jobs are over (electrics, gas, etc) and I think we're on to the decorating jobs now!

The hallway has been painted white, apart from our beautiful mustard yellow wall, that I'm in love with!  Joe's started putting cork tiles down, which will eventually go into the kitchen, dining room and conservatory too!

Look at this original wallpaper under the stairs!

The lounge is the most finished room, it's just waiting for carpets and a new sofa.

We'll put bookshelves on the wall where the cheese plant is now.  I'm halfway through stripping that G-plan chest of drawers, we'll put the telly on it eventually and get rid of the other unit.

The kitchen.  We've had the central heating boiler moved, the cooker, dishwasher and washing machine put in, and the old cooker and washing machine (that used to stand in the middle of the room!) taken out and all the pipes dealt with.  We are still, obviously, missing some essential kitchen parts, such as worktops and cupboards, but we do have shelves!  And one day we'll have a door to hide those shelves behind!

We bought this super retro cupboard from the charity shop!

The conservatory, aka decorating-stuff-depository.

Honestly, some days I feel like I hate living here, it's taking a lot longer than I hoped and everything is such a mess. I hope these photos show it at it's worst, and things will only get better!  We're almost ready to have carpets fitted (in the lounge, stairs and landing and bedrooms), then we can unpack and get a bit more organised.  I miss my stuff, it's been in boxes since June!

Moving Home!

We're finally moving into our new home, renovations are still going on and we won't have internet for a while.

See you soon! x

Our New Home.

So, this is our new home.  There's a lot of work to do, perhaps more than we thought when we'd first looked round, but we plan on being here for a long time so we'll get it done!

Would you like a guided tour?

This is the hallway, we're going to paint it yellow.

The first room you come to is the living room.  Complete with ladders and all the carpet that we ripped up.  The previous owners had dogs/cats/cigarettes/an aversion to cleaning, so the carpets were gross and pretty stinky.

Next is the kitchen/dining room.  I have a feeling this is where all our money will go!  There is a lot of interesting pipe work and electric work going on!

The dining room leads to the conservatory.  It's so gorgeous!  I'm going to put a day bed in there for luxurious lounging!

The garden, so far I've seen a great tit and a squirrel!

The first room upstairs is the bathroom.  If anyone knows how long you have to not clean your bathroom, for it to be completely black behind the toilet, please let me know.  Sadly we can't afford a new bathroom for a while, but I spent 3 hours cleaning it so we'll live with it for now.

This will be our bedroom.  Hopefully there's room for us to build in a wardrobe.

Spare room.

This will be Joe's computer room.  He's painting it gray.

This is the view from our lounge window.  I think it's lovely!

We've spent all weekend cleaning, so it's feeling a bit more like 'ours' now.  Joe bought a steam cleaner, which has been powering through the years of dog hair and dirt.  Seriously, it's so so dirty in there.  And the boiler broke today!  And we opened the dishwasher to find a George Forman gill, on a pile of newspapers and a curly wurly!

We'll get there!  Any home renovation tips?

We Did it!

We got the keys to our new house yesterday!

We won't move in for a while, as I still have my little flat for a bit longer and there's lots of decorating to do.  Today Joe pulled up all the old carpets and I spent about 3 hours cleaning the bathroom.  Oh my gosh, it's soooo dirty!

I'll have more photos soon!

My Little Flat.

I wanted to share a few corners of my home with you.

I bought my flat two and a half years ago, gave it a bit of a makeover, and have proceeded to fill it with the contents of the local charity shops!

The reason for these photos?  All my clutter has been tidied away, my flat is going on the market and I will (all going well) be moving somewhere new with my lovely boyfriend.

You may have spotted my ever so subtle subliminal message on the whiteboard ...

Now, anybody want to buy a flat?
