Eee that's so exciting! I really wish I'd starting growing things this year but I think it might be a project for next.. And I might need to learn to keep basic house-plants alive first too ;) haha.
It's never too late, if you planted some lettuce or other greens you could be eating them in a month or so....and the bonus with veggie growing is if you forget to water them the rain will do it for you (unlike houseplants!) :D
I have two volunteer strawberry plants, and neither plant has sprouted blooms, much less berries. They're unplanned, so I suppose I shouldn't count on anything.
Whoohoo for the first strawberry. Sadly I picked my last today. I'll have to wait another year for them. But I do have alpine strawberries if I really need a strawberry. They are so tiny that it takes so many for just a handful.
Everything seems to be getting ready for picking in my veg patch this last week. Already picked some lettuce, radishes, lots of herbs and some raspberries. Exciting!

DeleteI am always so desperate for the first lettuce of the season that I nibble whenever I can. Hope you aren't too late to make it work!
ReplyDeleteHome grown lettuce is the best isn't it!? :)

ReplyDeletePerhaps they just need some time, I grew some strawberries from seed last year and they've waited until this year to flower.

ReplyDeleteOh that's sad! I think that might have been my first and last, unless I cover them up quickly to protect them from the birds!
DeleteHomegrown strawberries are such a treat & that first one is always heaven!
ReplyDeleteIt really is :)
DeleteI am late every year :) so far we have only had lettuce but the rest of the veggies are looking promising.
ReplyDeleteHope they turn out well for you Lorna :)
