Harvest, July 2015.

This month my harvest has been small again!

I've had a few handfuls of strawberries, these were the last.

And my first courgette.

Things are still slow in the garden, I think the soil needs some love (although it's a good texture, nothing's growing very well, I think it needs some fertiliser and compost!).

Have you harvested anything from your garden this month?

Linking up with Harvest Mondays.

  1. Oh how cute is that courgette. I know its a small harvest, but you will get there, considering you have only just moved home you've done good. The garden will get a lot o loving over the next few years, you know it.

  2. I think the soil needs some sunshine!! I'm surprised anything is growing, it is so bloomin cold, wet and windy lol.

  3. Had plenty of strawberries but the pesky slugs attacked between rain showers (lots of tears here!). Plenty of raspberries but thats about it, having a serious slug problem with all the rain.

    1. Oh no, naughty slugs! I only get slugs down one side of my garden, it's really weird! I hope your slugs go away!

  4. My veg patch is being over run by cucumbers. It's crazy the amount i'm getting. I've been busy picking herbs, tomatoes and courgettes this week. Our strawberry bushes were pulled apart by our pesty little ground hog visitor but hopefully they'll survive the cold Michigan winter and grace us with something tasty next year. That's one very cute little courgette, they taste a lot better if you pick them when they are thicker and about 6" min in length.

    1. I think groundhogs are super cute, I'd be quite pleased to see one here in my garden in Shropshire! Although maybe not so much if he was going to hurt my strawberry plants!
The little courgette was bitter, I don't think it was quite ripe, if you look at the photo you can see one end of it was all withered, the rest of it wasn't growing so I got impatient and picked it! Hopefully the rest will grow a bit better! :)

  5. My courgettes slowed down last week 'cause of the weather too I think. I'd have picked that one of yours, it wouldn't have got any bigger. And it was cute! I had a cucumber that was bitter, could have been from lack of rain (that was before all last week's rain and gloom and wind) much calmer today though I'd rather be asleep still....Sunday morning! Hope your plant starts to produce more now.

    1. You are up early for a Sunday! Hope you've had an afternoon nap to make up for it!

We've had plenty of rain here, just think that little courgette was never going to ripen! I did enjoy eating it, even though it wasn't tasty, as it's one of the first things I've grown in my new garden :) Hope you have happy plants too! :)
