Charity shopping.

I love charity shopping, here's some lovely things I've been buying...

I have many small niblings, and I'm only buying secondhand or eco friendly presents this year, so this lovely hedgehog on wheels, that looks brand new, will be going to one of them for their birthday this year.

In the same vein, I picked up these lovely games for between £2 and £3 pounds each, they're in really nice condition (apart from the counting game is missing one yellow hoop!), so will be played with or given to the niblings.

I LOVE these shoes!  They were £15 including postage from eBay, they're soooo cute!

My mum gave me this super lovely beaded food cover from the charity shop she volunteers in.  I'll use it on my jug of juice in the garden in the summer.

My mum's husband volunteers in a different charity shop, and he kindly picked up this air dry clay for me - what can I make with it?!

I try to resist crafting materials, as I have so much, and I haven't actually had any motivation or inspiration to craft for a while, but I couldn't walk past this fabric for £1 a piece, or these scrabble-style letter tiles, I'm sure they'll come in handy, either for me, my Rainbow guides or for crafts at work!

My second hand, charity shopped wardrobe.

Most of my wardrobe is filled with second hand clothes, here are some of my recent charity shop outfits, 

I rediscovered this fabulous seventies crochet shawl in a box when we moved.  We lived in the same house until I was 27 and we had lovely lady neighbours on each side, Aunty Betsy and Aunty Rose (they both had husbands, Uncle John and Uncle Bill, who sadly died years ago).   Aunty Rose had a fabulous vegetable garden (she still does, she's still digging aged 90 odd!) and Aunty Betsy had a wonderful vintage wardrobe.  I'm lucky to have inherited some of her lovely things over the years, this is one of them.  Look at that fringe, it makes me feel giddy!  

This second hand cardigan has just the right amount of softness and I wear it loads.

This was from a tiny charity shop that has a pound rail, my favourite!  I love mustard at the moment and this top was originally from Next.  I'm going to chop that annoying elasticised waist off though!

These lovely brown T-bar shoes looked like they hadn't been worn.  The brand is 'ecco', who make exactly the kind of granny shoes I favour for my wide, high-arched little feet.

Charity Shopping, My Second Hand Wardrobe #2.

Here are some more of my second hand dresses.

This is a H&M tunic/dress (I think it's a top, but I'm 5 foot 1, so it's a knee length dress for me!).  It has a wrap top, which I've sewed up because it was showing too much cleavage!  £3 plus postage, Ebay.

These Birkenstocks have been my favourite summer shoes and cost between £40 and £60 new.  £15 including postage, Ebay.

Charity Shopping, My Second Hand Wardrobe #1.

All my clothes, or nearly all my clothes, come from charity shops or ebay.  

I thought I'd show you some of the lovely things I've bought second hand recently.

 

This dress was originally from Debenhams, it's a little big, I didn't try it on because there was a big queue for the changing room, I might take it in using my sewing machine.  £2, charity shop.

This cotton Florence and Fred dress is lovely and cool for the summer.  £2 plus postage, Ebay.

Charity Shop Treasure...Dresses Galore...

I got two new dresses from the charity shop this week...

This Mexican one was £3.99...I've always wanted one of these so I'm really pleased!  I'm going to shorten it a bit I think, because it's a funny, unflattering mid-calf length.

Charity Shop Treasure...Darling Dresses and Cosy Cardigan...

The charity shops have been good to my this week....

I got this orange and black flowery dress for £3!  It was a size 22, too big for me, so I took it in at the top and if I tie the belt bits tightly at the back of the waist it fits perfectly!

This dress still had it's tags on....£1.50! 

And this M&S cardigan was £3 too!  Yey!

Charity Shop Treasure...Handmade Cardigans and Hornsea Fawn...

I have bought not one, but TWO cardigans of joy!

Both are handmade, the granny square one was £4.99 and the grey knitted one was £3.49...both are lovely and warm for work (it's very draughty in my library!)

I also purchased a fawn of joy!  He will live with the bunnies of joy!  Someone had given their entire collection of Fauna vases to the charity shop and I decided mum would kill me if I bought it all so I just chose my favorite one, I left about 15 pieces there, I went back today for another look and all the rest of it was gone :(

Charity Shop Treasure...The Wedding (guest!)...

I had a wedding to go to this weekend and I decided in advance that I was NOT going to buy anything new for it, because how many wedding outfits get bought and then never worn again?!


I got this dress from a charity shop for £10 (it was second hand so not really new, but new to me - I don't count that as cheating!!). I wore a necklace that had belonged to my Nan and bracelets, rings, bag and shoes that I already owned from my pre-not-buying-anything days!
Success!
I wonder if it'll make it into my usual daily outfit choice of t-shirts, holey trousers (I'll get round to mending them one day!) and trainers though?
