Ahhh charity shopping, I love it so! Here are my latest finds,
In fact this is not one of my latest finds, I've had it about a year but it's been buried in moving-house-detritus. I love how simple these matryoshka dolls are, and their facial expressions. They feel like they're really quite old and the biggest one has a paper label with Russian writing on it.
Matryoshka, £7, local charity shop.
I bought this little jug on honeymoon, in my favourite charity shop in Aberystwyth, Craft. We really wanted to buy a little mid century corner cupboard that would have fitted in perfectly in our living room, but we wouldn't have been able to get it back home on the train (especially as we'd already bought a 3mx2m rug we had to carry back!). So I made do with this little jug instead, and very nice it is too.
Orange floral jug, £1, charity shop Aberystwyth.
And this little jug was a present from my mum for Easter. I went to uni in Aberystwyth and we've had many day trips and holidays there, my love for Aber runs deep. And now I can display my Aber pride with this cute little jug.
Aberystwyth jug, present, local charity shop.
Have you bought anything amazing from the charity shops lately?

I love that orange jug and the Russian dolls-they do look quite old- wow!
ReplyDeleteI've bought books (those on IG), two shirts - the Amy Pond one and a denim one and an Emily and Fin dress!!x
Yey, I saw some of those on Instagram! Lovely things :)
DeleteI love the jugs!! I bought the Simpsons scene it game recently and some cute bits for the giveaway I'm going to be doing on my new blog 😃
ReplyDeleteThanks Charlotte :) That sounds like a fun game, we bought a Harry Potter one the other day, but haven't played it yet. All the best for your new blog, I'm looking forward to seeing it :)
DeleteI have a fondness for Aber too as I lived near there a long time ago, I have a friend who adores matryoshka doll and I tend to give them to her for Christmas often from charity shops, but not this year - it will have to be something different.
ReplyDeleteI love Aber, but after spending time in Aberdovey I think I like it better, or Macynlleth, we both loved Macynlleth!
DeleteI always seem to find the most perfect furniture in charity shops when I'm on the train. Visiting somewhere in my car? No chance. I love the dolls, what a great find! I wonder how they ended up in a charity shop. My Matryoshka were brought back for me by my grandparents when they visited Bulgaria in the early 80s, I wouldn't part with them for the world.
ReplyDeleteIt's always the way isn't it! I told Joe not to look at the furniture too because that shop always has loads of awesome, cheap, midcentury stuff, but he couldn't resist!
DeleteThe charity shop was full of Russian dolls so someone must have been getting rid of a collection, my mum bought 2 sets for my nieces and I bought this one, so at least some of their collection has stayed kinda together!
I love, love, love the dolls! I want some! And the jugs are so cute. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Bliss Tuesdays. Jo
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, I love the dolls too :)
DeleteSusie, I love the Russian nesting dolls but the little jug with the fall flowers is lovely. Your souvenir jug is so fun to remind you of a fun time you had there. Thank you for sharing at Vintage Charm.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon :)
