I've been busy making a granny stripe blanket for my best friend and her husband, who I am visiting in Rio de Janeiro. I will be staying with them for a few weeks, so this is a thank you for having me present as well as a house warming present.
Before I started, I went online and found some photos of finished granny stripe blankets and photos of the area she lives in, Santa Teresa, to inspire my colour choices.
You can find lots more colourful crochet inspiration on my Pinterest boards.
I wanted lots of pastels and neutrals mixed in with bright colours. I usually do really bright or rainbow-y colour schemes for myself, but I wanted something more relaxed for this blanket. It was nice to have a look at how other people use colour, and try something different.
Here's a sneak preview of the finished blanket. I'll show you it properly next time!
so neat! they sure will love it. and happy travels too!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteBeautiful blanket - really neat stitches, I really like your colour choices too. A granny ripple blanket is on my to do list. I am sure that your friend is going to be thrilled with this gift. Can you tell me what kind of yarn you used please?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lorna. I am tempted by a granny ripple too one day!
DeleteThe yarn I used is from my stash, so it's a mixture of all sorts of things, mostly it's acrylic double knitting, my local yarn shop sells Robin and Woolcraft brands quite cheaply so it's probably mostly those. (Woolcraft is lovely and soft, I don't like Robin yarn very much, but it does come in some nice colours)
Wow! Must have been fun to do that research! But soon you'll be able to take your own pictures to inspire your next project. How exciting.
ReplyDeleteI'm back from my visit now, it was even prettier in real life, and I have the 400 photos to prove it!
