Charity shopping, the one with the weaving loom.

Here are my latest, lovely charity shop finds,

Charity shopping, weaving loom and retro duvet cover and curtains. secondhandsusie.blogspot.co.uk #thrifting #charityshopping #ukblogger

I bought this retro weaving loom on Ebay a while ago (after I got over excited about weaving when I got a free kit from Mollie Makes magazine!).  I haven't used it yet, but only because we're still doing lots of house stuff and there's no room, I can't wait to start!  I've been really inspired by the weaving on Stories of Objects, she makes lovely things!
£9.26 including postage, Ebay.

This lovely retro duvet cover is destined to become a dress!

I don't know what this curtain is destined to be, but it's cute!

Have you bought something lovely from the charity shop lately?

  1. oohhh I have that very same loom :) I've also just taken delivery of a weavemaster table loom from a very kind bloke off freecycle for our textiles group, so I get the job of figuring out how to work the thing lol :)
those fabrics are beautiful, I found a little vintage green perfume bottle with one of those atomizers on the end for 99p :) xx

    1. That sounds like a good charity shop treasure and Wow, that's a lucky freecyle find, I bet you'll have fun with that! Someone offered me a huge freestanding loom, almost like a smaller version of one you'd find in a factory, but we don't have room for it in the house :(

  2. :)Thank you for your nice words! Your loom is very similar to mine. I think it's a nice size, small enough to keep comfortably in your lap but big enough to make something usable. Looking forward to see what you will make! Next, I'm thinking of cutting up some used clothes, too torn to use or donate and make some pouches out of them.

    1. I actually had a look closely at the photos of your loom on your blog before I bought mine, because yours looked like a good size! I think I'd like to make some wall hangings for our new house with the loom, but I'll have to have a play with it first and see what comes out!

  3. Oo thats lovely! I have never made any clothes myself but I could see those curtains becoming a skirt with buttons all the way down, like a mini skirt? I dont know how difficult that would be to make!

    1. Thank you :) I can make skirts (I think!) I'm working on one with buttons down the middle at the moment (if I ever find it in the unpacking!), I like the skirt idea, I might go with that :)

  4. The fabric is fab! I agree with Charlotte, the curtains would make a great 70s-style button-front mini.

    1. I like the idea of a skirt, although I have plenty of time to decide, no sewing until the kitchen/dining room is finished as that's where my sewing machine will live, and it's going to take a couple of months to get done!

  5. Ooooh nice loom and I think that you should make a button down long waistcoat dress out of that material and then you can wear it as an overdress over a long top!x
